Speaker Intro: C.J. Mahaney

CJ is back in the house for NEXT 2010 and I can’t wait! Did you guys know CJ has been at every NEXT/New Attitude conference since it started back in the 90’s. His commitment to pass the gospel our generation amazes me.

There are so many ways I could intro CJ but since most of you probably know about him (if you don’t check out his Bio). I thought I would share some of reasons I look forward to hearing CJ again this year at NEXT.

* CJ has a deep passion for applying the word of God to our lives. I have never listened to a sermon by CJ without walking away with one or two practical ways to apply that sermon to my life.

* He has written some awesome books and they aren’t dictionary in size! Seriously nothing wrong with big books (which I love) but CJ has written great practical books which you can read in an afternoon and will affect you for life.

* CJ once had long hair yet has totally led the way in the cool bald-head pastor appearance; he could have chosen the comb-over, we should be grateful he chose wisely. Does anyone know how long his hair was?

* CJ’s vision is building local churches and not big conferences. CJ both through his life and through his ministry has taught me to hold in highest honor my local pastors and look at my church as the dearest place on earth.

* CJ is an avid sports fan and isn’t afraid to support losing teams like the Redskins.

* But most of all I look forward to receiving from CJ’s passion to see the gospel passed on to our generation. He has labored for decades on our behalf so that we would be able to see, understand and live in the good of the gospel. He has labored so we would keep the Main Thing the Main Thing and that has changed my life forever.

Well I hope that gets you excited to receive once again from CJ this year. Please post your reasons why you look forward to hearing from CJ again or what ways his life, teaching, books or whatever has affected your life. There is no way I can capture CJ in just a few bullet points.

I can’t wait to see all that God is going to do through all these great speakers at NEXT 2010!

Great stuff, Christopher.  The passion my wife and I have for the gospel is definitely owing in part, humanly speaking, to CJ’s ministry.  The rapid balding that my kids continue to point out when they ride on my shoulders - I suspect that has little or nothing to do with CJ.  I’m happy to imitate him in the former.  The latter less so, especially during the winter months.  As for the Redskins.  They’ve had their day.  The Saints are gonna take it this year!  Feel the Brees baby!

I agree, Matt! I’ve been learning from C.J. my whole life. He’s one of my heroes. His passion for Christ and His gospel is contagious. Every time I observe him (whether in preaching or conversation), he is just exploding with gospel-driven energy. I want to be like him when I grow up! :)

Besides my parents, no one has affected my life, my love for my God, and my awe of the gospel like CJ. I am SO grateful!
